Privacy Policy

CiSRA is bound by the National Privacy Principles ("NPPs") and will comply with them to the extent required by the Australian Privacy Act. CiSRA recognises the importance of your privacy. We are committed to protecting any personal information which you provide to us. This privacy policy describes how we manage personal information and safeguard your privacy.

1.  Collecting personal information about you

The kinds of personal information we collect and hold will depend upon the information required on any part of the Site, for example personal information required as a condition of a download. It may also include information which you include in an email or other communication.

Some of this information we collect in these circumstances may not be personal information because it will not reveal your identity. The only personal information which we collect about you when you use our Web sites is what you tell us about yourself, for example, by completing an online form such as a purchase order/request for services or by sending us an email. We may record your email address if you send us an email. We do not collect personal information without you knowing about it, for example by using cookies.

2.  Using and disclosing your personal information

When we collect and hold personal information, this is how we use it:

  • to make a record of, or possibly to assess, an application by you for products or services or to respond to your enquiry.

  • We may also use your personal information to provide you with information about the products or services supplied (such as upgrade information) or other products and services offered or distributed by us or our related companies. However we will not market any goods or services to you without your consent.

  • We may also disclose your information to other companies within the Canon Group so that they can tell you about products and services offered by them, if you consent to them doing so.

3.  Contracting out services and disclosures

We may contract out some of our business processes to external service providers. We may disclose your personal information to these service providers but only so that they can provide the services that we have contracted out to them.

4.  Access to your personal information.

In most cases, if we do hold any personal information about you, you can gain access to it. An exception might be, for example, personal information in an email which we archive in such a way that we cannot use it or may not be able to find it. We will handle requests for access to your personal information in accordance with the National Privacy Principles.

We will deal with all requests for access to personal information as soon as possible. Requests for a large amount of information, or information which is not currently in use, may require further time before a response can be given. In some cases, consistently with the National Privacy Principles, we may refuse to give you access to personal information we hold about you. If we refuse to give you access we will provide you with reasons for our refusal. Generally, if you request us to do so we will amend any personal information about you held by us which is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. If we disagree with you about the accuracy, completeness or currency of a record of your personal information held by us, we will take reasonable steps to associate with that record a statement to the effect that you claim this to be the case, if you request us to do so.
